International cooperation

 

International cooperation of the Department of Archeology and Ethnology is carried out within the framework of such programs as:

·        double-diploma education (possibility to simultaneously receive a diploma from L.N. Gumilyov ENU and another university under an established cooperation agreement);

 

·        academic mobility (opportunity to study for one semester at another university in Kazakhstan and abroad);

 

 

·        participation in scientific conferences and seminars (Akhinzhanov readings, Orazbayev readings, Science and education, International and Republican subject olympiads, Russian archaeological and ethnographic conference of students and young scientists, Ural-Volga archaeological student conference, etc.);

 

 

 

·        conducting joint archaeological expeditions (International field school «Archaeology and ethnology of Kazakhstan: current trends and the search for young people» at the Kyrykungir burial ground, 2016; summer school at Berel burial ground, East Kazakhstan region, June 2017);

·        scientific internships for undergraduates and doctoral students;

·        co-supervising the scientific work of doctoral students;

·        publication of joint articles and studies;

·        participation in international projects, lectures, etc.

EXAMPLES OF JOINT RESEARCH AND EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE

Department of archeology and ethnology, as well as the Research Institute of archeology. K.A. Akisheva shared the results of their field archaeological research with the staff of the archaeological research Laboratory of Stockholm University.

 

Natalia Kashuba, an employee of the laboratory, the executor of the «ATLAS» project, arrived to take DNA samples.

 

 

On November 19, 2018, the Head of the Department of Archeology and Ethnology, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of History, met with Oxford University Professor Stanberg Troy. As part of a working visit to the UK, the scientists got acquainted with the laboratory of the University of Sheffield in the UK.

 

 

On November 22, 2018, a scientific seminar was held at the University of Sheffield, where the head of the Department of Archeology and Ethnology, Ulan Umitkalievich, spoke. During the scientific seminar, the candidate of historical sciences spoke about archaeological excavations in East Kazakhstan («The location of elite saka kurgans in the East Kazakhstan»).
