Chingistau 2022

Since May 23, 2022, at the initiative of the Department of Archeology and Ethnology of the Faculty of History of the Gumilev Eurasian National University, the educational practice of archeology of ethnography has been conducted in East Kazakhstan at the complex monument Kyrykungir, Toktamys village of Abai region.

A total of 29 students, 1st, 2nd, 3rd year students of the specialty archeology ethnology and 28 students of the specialty history took part in the archaeological practice. In the course of general archaeological practice, monuments of the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age were studied at the Kyrykunir complex monument. In the course of the study, advanced achievements in the development of metallurgy, the culture of domestication of horses that occurred 3,800 years ago were revealed.

The students studied the methodology of excavations, learned how to work with theodolite, leveling, quadracopter, and geophysical exploration.

Ethnographically, the Abai region was engaged in the study of folk traditions and customs of the Chingistau region. Ethnographic materials were collected in the village of Sarzhau, which the students got acquainted with, such as the traditions of cooking koumiss, such as fermentation, milking, etc.

All this contributed to the improvement of students' knowledge.
