Scientific seminar “THE CONTRIBUTION OF ENTREPRENEURS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION AND PRESERVATION OF THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY”

February 09, 2024, within the framework of the scientific project: AP19676432 “Religious traditions and charity in Kazakh society (XIX-early XX centuries)” at the Faculty of History of the Eurasian National University. L.N. Gumilyov held a scientific seminar on the topic “The Contribution of Entrepreneurs to the Development of Public Education and the Preservation of the Muslim Community” with the participation of a foreign scientist, professor at the Institute of History of the Pomeranian University in Slupsk (Poland), Doctor of Historical Sciences Roman Drozd. The professor, speaking with a report “Aspects of the contribution of entrepreneurs to the development of education at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries,” emphasized “that the participation of entrepreneurs in the formation of educational policy was an important factor that influenced the development of educational systems at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Their activities were aimed not only at improving the quality of teaching, but also at better adapting education to the needs of a changing society and economy.”

The following topics were also discussed by the seminar participants:

- “Private national schools: Muslim new-method mektebs” (Zhapekova Gulfairus Kabdulovna – candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan);

- “Alash kairatkeri Bilal Suleyuly - Mamaniya mektebinin tulegi” (Seitkazina Kuralay Otaubaevna – candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan);

- “Kazak merchant Baimukhamet Kosshygulov” (Kushenova Ganijamal Imankyzy – candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan);

- “Prerequisites for the development of patronage in Kazakhstan at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries.” (Kazhenova Gulnar Tulegenovna - candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the department of archeology and ethnology);

- “Charity and education in Muslim society: the role of entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan in the period from the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century.” (Salauat Nurzhan Serikuly - Doctoral student at the Department of History of Kazakhstan).

Teaching staff and second-year students of the Faculty of History took an active part.
