On March 29, 2023, the XVI Republican Subject Olympiad in Archeology and Ethnology organized by the Department of "Archeology and Ethnology" of the Faculty of History was held. The Dean of the Faculty of History, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Bekmaganbetovomirbayzholdybekuly spoke at the opening ceremony of the Olympiad. He wished the participants a successful victory.
Teams of students from several universities of the republic specializing in archeology and ethnology took part in the Olympiad.The chairman of the jury was a well-known scientist of the department, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Zhambyl Omarulyartykbayev. The jury was also represented by no less well-known researchers in the person of the scientific secretary of the museum-reserve "Bozok" Ainagulsabitovina Ganieva, associate professors Razdykovasakenazeynullauly, Ibadullayeva Zilihiomirbekovna, Kazenova Gulnar Tolegenovna.
The Olympiad was held in the House of Friendship of Astana, which is the base of the Faculty of History. The purpose of the Olympiad in this institution was to strengthen close ties with employers, represented by the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. This is one of the important areas of the department's work, so the time spent in this Palace of Peace was very interesting, attractive and informative for the guests of the capital.
The Olympiad consisted of three rounds aimed at developing students' knowledge, during which the teams demonstrated their skills, experience in practical application of the acquired knowledge, creativity and erudition.
As for the prizes, the team of the L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, as a good host, lost the first places to the guests. So the team "Zhankent" of the Korkytat Kyzylorda University won a diploma of the 1st degree. The diploma of the 2nd degree was received by the Karaganda State University named after E. Buketov "Zhalyn".The team of ENU "Young Archaeologist" received a diploma of the III degree.
