nternational scientific and practical conference «Domestic historical science and archive: topical issues and new data»

 

On March 16, 2021, the Department of History of Kazakhstan, Faculty of History, Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov together with the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an international scientific and practical conference «Domestic historical science and archive: topical issues and new data».

Over the 30 years of independence, Domestic historical science has done a tremendous job to fill the blank spots in our history, but new discoveries raise new questions. The archive helps historians to answer them. The Archive is a place where the past, present and future meet. Thanks to the archive, the connection between times, the history of the development of culture and social life is preserved. This is the significance of the archive as a source of cultural and historical information. The aim of the conference is to achieve historical accuracy in the writings of researchers by motivating them for a wider coverage of archival sources. Use and support of innovations in archival activities.

The conference was held in the following thematic areas:

1.     Analysis of topical problems of the history of the Middle Ages based on sources.

2.     The importance of domestic and foreign archival data in the study of the history of the colonial period.

3.     The role of archival sources in the study of the Soviet totalitarian system.

4.     Study of topical issues of the modern history of Kazakhstan on the basis of archival data.

Along with domestic scientists, doctoral students and undergraduates of the

Department of History of Kazakhstan and the leadership of the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, young researchers from Princeton University (USA) took part in the international scientific and practical conference.
