International cooperation of the department of archeology and ethnology is carried out within the framework of such programs as:

         double diploma education;

         academic mobility;

         participation in scientific conferences and seminars;

         conducting joint archaeological expeditions;

         scientific internships for undergraduates and doctoral students;

         co-supervising the scientific work of doctoral students;

         publication of joint articles and studies;

         participation in international projects, lectures, etc.

 

According to the results of the National Rating Agency of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the specialties of the department occupy leading positions. In 2015, in the specialty 5B020800 - the department of archeology and ethnology took 3rd place, in the specialty 6M020800 – 1st place. In the national rating of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) OP «6D020800-Archaeology and Ethnology» in 2018 took the leading position – 2nd place.

 

There are two archaeological expeditions operating at the department: «Esil Stationary Archaeological Expedition», which conducts its research on the territory of the capital region, and «Shingistau archaeological and ethnographic expedition», which launched its activities on the territory of the Abay district of the Abay region.

 

 

Graduates of the specialty «archaeology, ethnology and physical anthropology» work in cultural and educational institutions of Kazakhstan - in research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, museums, universities, akimats, inspection bodies for the protection of historical and cultural heritage.
